Aunque va a sufrir un cambio de esqueleto más que razonable dentro de muy poco, el otro día redacté un par de “mini-tutoriales” para que TODO (y, realmente, es todo) el mundo pueda registrarse y enviar noticias a LaKatxarraka.net. Aún no están indicados en la propia web, pero ya pueden ser consultados y difundidos online:
Como se dice ahí, NO es necesario registrarse para enviar una noticia o evento, aunque sí recomendable, especialmente para permitir a los que trabajan detrás de la web ver quién y qué se publica y, así, ir adaptando el diseño.
LaKatxarraka.net es la vertiente virtual de la Asociación Cultural La Katxarraka y, además de información sobre el proyecto en sí, ofrece una agenda cultural de Zaragoza y alrededores variada en la que aparecen tanto eventos “comerciales” como actividades menos publicitadas en los medios habituales de comunicación. Su fuerza reside tanto en la capacidad de aglutinar gente como en permitir que cualquier persona o colectivo utilice la web como plataforma para dar a conocer su proyecto, idea o evento, todo ello dentro de la filosofía de la cultura libre.
Entre todos, ya hemos conseguido convertir LaKatxarraka.net en un punto de encuentro para más de 700 personas al día, ahora el reto es hacer que el flujo de noticias y eventos se auto-genere a partir de los usuarios.LaKatxarraka.net se hace entre todos, ¡¡¡envía tu noticia TÚ mismo!!!

I finally was accepted to La Sapienza’s SEAI‘08, to be held from May 25th. to June 25th in Rome (Italy). This is something really cool because, though it might feel like really boring (it actually is if one’s not interested in the topic), it has three nice points:
First and most important, it was the best excuse to spend one month in the italian capital, a city where I still keep very good friends fom Sweden and where I’ve been a couple of times but never really get to know well. I hope by late june I can’t stand for the latter
Second, the stuff I’m gonna learn is really important for my PhD. and not that easy to pick up at my department, since there’s no one working on it, so you need to read by yourself (as I’ve been doing all over this year).
Last and by far the least important, there’s also something to do with my little honour: when I applied in winter, we were all required to send some more info about our academic background and perspectives in order to make a little bit of selection, as there were only 30 vacancies and 100 applications. I wasn’t accepted. Instead, I received the typical “you are on a list, just un case someone fails, we’ll take you into account, next year…”. I never thought that was gonna be true: a couple of months later I received another mail from the guy at La Sapienza saying I could go. Yeah!
So, once I was in, it started the process of looking for a place to stay. Not that easy, provided I was in Spain and had no idea of how to look for an appartment there. Luckily, I found two partners attending the SEAI as well and in something like a week we were done (the process of looking for it was kind of funny as they both live in the States right now and me in Spain). So if anyone is thinking of coming around Rome next June and feels like sharing a coffee (capuccino, of course), just let me know
Hace unos meses, el inagotable trotamundos Kaste vino a nosotros con una historia preciosa: Puente Humano, un colectivo con el que colabora desde sus días como canario de adopción, estaba trabajando para sacar a la luz el proyecto Secteur-S: un grupo de rap Senegalés que canta, en Wolof (la lengua local) y en primera persona, las penurias que supone intentar buscar un futuro mejor si has nacido “al otro lado”. A ese primer contacto le sucedió una reunión en Zaragoza con más miembros de la asociación y el compromiso de colaboración de ambas partes: nosotros haríamos cuanto estuviese en nuestra mano para dar a conocer a Secteur-S dentro de la península (especialmente en Zaragoza) siempre y cuando, el material del grupo estuviese editado bajo licencias de libre distribución.
Parece que, por fin, las palabras comienzan a convertirse en hechos: esta tarde llegaba a mi bandeja de entrada un enlace al siguiente vídeo, y aquí se puede consultar más información sobre el proyecto, así como la versión del vídeo con subtítulos en francés. Hecha su parte, ahora nos toca a nosotros ponernos manos a la obra con la nuestra: el primer paso será la inclusión del material de Secteur-S en la versión multimedia del Rec&Play-II que se comenzará a repartir en el concierto del Parque Delicias, el 22 de Abril. Pero lo bonito de colaborar entre personas es que es como ir al médico: sabes cuando empiezas, pero rara vez cuando terminas…

Since I’ve been accepted to go to the US for one year, I’ve been required to send my academic CV (among tons of other papers…). That’s something which has forced me to (almost) create it and, definitely, to translate it into english, after all no one from abroad had felt interested in me before. I’ve also used the chance to improve my LaTeX skills and well… here it is!!! You are all welcome to leave comments about it.

Y con esto terminaba también un febrero realmente intenso y contra-cultural, en el que nos han echado del local pero ha salido el acto, hemos conocido un montón de compis nuevos que hacen el futuro más prometedor si cabe para la ACLK y nos han dado energías para seguir trabajando por que la cultura libre cada día llegue a más gente.
Estad al loro porque febrero se ha terminado ya, pero la primavera está a la vuelta de la esquina y tenemos un par de ases en la manga para entonces!!!
Ok, dreamessenceonthemove is too long a name for a blog link. I knew that since the day I set it up but I hadn ‘t come up with a better option myself. I always liked it to be the plain dreamessence but someone went first in the queue. Since this blog was originally intended to keep track of my life journey (so it is right now, but since i’m temporarily settled in my hometown, the post have taken a different look to the first ones), i thought dreamessenceonthemove might fit. Yet the thought it was too long remained. But las friday I came up with a “new” idea: why don’t I open up a new one with a shorter name just make it easier for people to get through? So I just registered deotm.wordpress.com to let u easily remember my ciberSpace.
Then, from now on, if u r somewhere and wanna now about me but don’t remember the whole address, just think of the first letters (DreamEssenceOnTheMove), type them on your web browser and enjoy the Digital Land!!!
So here it was getting just finished the track I’ve compiled for tomorrow’s event@LaKatxarraka’s (ex)place. I really hope this works out… I’ll post more about this project once is done, not to have bad luck (you know, talking about things before they´ve happened…). I guess that’s sth I got in China, superstition
